Victorian/Edwardian Carved Oak Games Tantalus with Three Decanters. This is a very handsome late Victorian/Edwardian carved oak Tantalus with three decanters and a games drawer, dated 1901. The Tantalus has silver plated mounts and encloses three square-cut decanters within a mirror-back compartment. The decanters have their original stoppers.
Lifting the two top doors to the internal compartment will reveal a secret button which, when pressed, releases the games drawer and contents. The oak case is attractively carved and is of good quality contruction. The Tantalus measures 37cm wide, 28cm deep and 30cm high. The silver plate has an attractive, antique patina. The decanters have a couple of very minor nicks when viewed very closely, but are generally in excellent condition.
