STUNNING FIGURAL EP SILVER LION CLARET WINE DECANTER JUG ANTIQUE VICTORIAN Stein. Stunning antique cut glass claret wine decanter with figural EP silver lid. Figural Lion finial with a face on both the spout and handle. The bearded man on handle could possibly be a representation of Bacchus but its not typical of a Bacchus seen on many of these decanters. The silver portion isnt marked as far as I can tell, which leads me to believe that its electroplated.
It has a fantastic look however and doesnt come across as immediately looking plated. The glass/crystal is beautifully cut and extremely heavy. The glass has some very minor scratches but is not stained as far as I can see. The piece is in very nice antique condition overall.
The only issue being the pin in the hinge hanging out a bit on one end. Im almost positive it could just be tapped in within two seconds time. Since Ive owned it Ive been hesitant to do it just in case it didnt want to go right back in.It doesnt bother me like that and the lid opens and closes without issue. Ill leave it as-is and let the new owner decide if they wish to address it.
