Rare Pair of Edwardian Parrot Decanters, Silver Plate and Mouth Blown Glass c. A very rare pair of antique Edwardian novelty liquor decanters with mouth blown bodies and silver plated mounts in the form of Parrots dating from c. Standing 6.25 tall each parrot has a lovely rich deep blue, almost Bristol blue glass bodies and clear hand tooled glass handles with silver plated heads and feet.
The quality fo the modelling is superb, very finely detailed with each feather showing and the original glass eyes are still present. The heads are hinged for pouring and are gilded to the interior. Both parrots are marked to the back of the neck with full silver plate marks and a makers mark which we haven't been able to identify, so maybe their new owner can have some fun doing the research there. To find one of these is extremely rare - do a quick google search and you will see that they are extremely uncommon, so to find a pair is really quite something. We know these are a true pair as the handles and the heads face each other. Condition: 1 parrot is in perfect condition, the other has a small heat crack or flaw to the glass at the top of one handle which we believe to be a manufacturing flaw rather than damage as it cannot be felt from the outside. Both heads hand good solid hinges with no plate wear. A wonderful pair of Novelty Decanters.
