This decanter has a tall, slender body with wheel-cut intaglio engraved design that covers the entire decanter including the base and stopper. The applied clear crystal handle is also decorated with engraved design. The tall delicate stopper is also finely decorated with hollow, air blown rounded top. The glass has beautiful clarity and is engraved with scrolls, flowers and swags with two centered medallions with swans in the design. This highly polished copper-wheel cut engraved all-over pattern on blown glass was originally introduced by Thomas Webb at Stevens and Williams. Rock crystal pieces of this quality were also produced in America by the better glass houses of Hawkes, Steuben, Pairpoint and Dorflinger. Although unsigned, we believe this decanter to bear the characteristics of Thomas Webb. This amazingly detailed decanter is in excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being a tiny, no-harm nick on the underside edge of the base.
The interior is clean and free of residue. Measures 14 1/4" high (including the stopper), 10 7/8" high (to rim of mouth), with an overall width of 4" (including handle) and has a 3 1/2" diameter base.
