RARE Antique Victorian Silver Plate Cut Glass Locking Decanter Set John Sherwood

  
Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this superb Edwardian silver plate and cut glass locking decanter set, with silver mount made by John Sherwood & Sons of Birmingham, c-1890's. This wonderful rare set includes a silver plated stand having a square cut glass decanter, removable locking lid with key and small scotch glass to the side. Condition is good used overall, with no major observable damage to note. There is a very minor split to the silver lid (see photo 6) and some scratching near where the key enters. There is wear to the silver plate inside the bottle from use, and to the base of the feet as expected. The small glass has a few minor chips to the rim, but the decanter glass is flawless.

The locking mechanism works well, and snaps tightly shut atop the bottle. The silver plated stand is in very good condition considering, and the hallmarks are crisp and clear. This is a rare example of a locking decanter set with original stand, and would make a perfect gift. Don't miss out on this opportunity! The set stands about 20cm tall and is about 20cm wide at the most.
