1876 AMERICAN OR ENGLISH ENGRAVED AND CUT PAIR OF AWARD DECANTER FLINT GLASS. We search estate sales, auctions, garage sales and pick in search of items to bring to you. AMERICAN OR ENGLISH ENGRAVED AND CUT PAIR OF AWARD DECANTERS, colorless lead glass, each compressed globular body with one etched O. C / PRESENTED / BY / A. HOWAT / 1876 and the other etched.
And both etched WON BY / O. McLACHLAND", each within a ring with "14 LB at bottom, flanking elaborate engraved sprays of flowers and thistles, honeycomb-cut neck and basal thumbprints, star-cut base, original facet-cut stoppers.
10 1/2" HOA, 8" H mouth. NOTE: Undamaged except for a small light bruise to edge of one mouth, a flea bite to edge of the other mouth and some residue on bottom of one. FLUORESCES YELLOW GREEN UNDER LONG WAVE UV AND BLUE UNDER SHORT WAVE UV FLUORESCENT LIGHT. Vintage glass may show characteristics of age, including allowable base wear, bubbles, pattern irregularities, straw marks (inclusions/cooling marks) or mold mark.
