This top quality Victorian silver and cut glass claret wine jug stands 175mm (7") high x 130mm (5") and weighs 837 grams. It is fully hallmarked for solid English sterling silver London 1899 with the makers mark for William Gibson & John Langman of the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company. It comfortably holds a bottle of wine and shows clear signs of influence from the designs of Dr Christopher Dresser with the angular handle and clean lines to the silver lid and spout, as you would expect from the Goldsmiths & Silversmith Co the quality and weight of the silver is very good with the cut glass bottle is equally as good with a star cut base.
