Antique silver plated decanter holder, Mappin Bros and three cut glass decanters
VICTORIAN SILVER PLATED DECANTER HOLDER by Mappin Brothers. This Victorian table centrepiece is stunningly elaborate. The triple decanter compartments feature pierced oval rims of beaded design over a pierced foliate body. The ornate handle has a barley twist stem surmounted by elaborate grape vine detail with five separate bunches of grapes.
The whole piece rests upon three feet of stylised branches. One decanter / bottle carrier has a cartouche which is blank - ideal for your desired engraving.
The base clearly shows the stamp of Mappin Brothers. This stunning carrier comes with three replacement glass decanters, in good condition, with stoppers.
Each one holds 75 cl (750 ml) or 1.3 pints, ideal for a bottle of wine or spirits. The decanter compartment bases have been fitted with felt liners to allow for both a better fit and to provide a cushioned base for the glass. This super quality piece will dramatically enhance a sideboard or table and would be a great talking point this Christmas! Date: third quarter of 19th Century. Height: 40 cm (15 3/4 in).
