Antique ABP Cut Crystal Clear Decanter w/ Sterling Collar. Up for sale is the American Brilliant Period cut crystal clear decanter with sterling collar marked SC&L, dated late 19. As a symbol of elegance and leisure, ABP c. 1915 cut crystal or glass spanned around 40 years to the end of WWI. A company established in 1796 in Boston, Massachusetts by watchmaker and silversmith John McFarlane as one of the oldest purveyor of luxury goods in North America. Shreve, Crump & Low, was then formed by merger in 1869 and is still active till today. A rounded base for aeration. Features a bud vase-like shape with. A tall and slender neck faceted, beaded and mounted with sterling silver in trumpet form. The cut patterns are intricate including. For liquid transfer, the decanter was designed without a stopper. It is not sure if the glass part of the decanter is crystal. Different from plain glass which does not spark or reflect light sources to give a rainbow prism effect, the decanter however, does show the effect, suggesting that it is made of crystal. Measures: Dimensions, 3 mouth rim diameter x 8 ½ high x 6 ¾ wide (across widest parts); Weight, heavy, over 3 lbs & 9 oz (1.615 kg).
Condition: Very good and clean, with no chips, cracks or breaks to the cut glass, with a mild dent to the edge of the silver collar as indicated by arrow in red.
