Antique 1909 Three Cut Glass Bottle Decanters Oak Cased Tantalus- All Original

  

Superb antique three cut glass bottled decanter oak cased Tantalus with decorative mounts. The shield mounts on the lid have the inscription 1st prize, 2 Mile, Cycle Handicap, Sept. 2nd 1909 and Roland Charles Munt the shield above the decanter is plain. A lovely, extremely decorative and practical piece of history, that looks fantastic on display!

It was skilful crafted from oak wood and incorporates three identical hand made cut glass decanters with stoppers of excellent fit, a mirrored back, four compartments for playing cards, two of them with a small hidden compartment underneath and, original cribbage board, under the hinged lids. Comes complete with key which doesnt lock. This piece is in excellent condition with only light signs of use and no chips cracks or woodworm.

The original mirror with the odd dark mark from age is intact. The shield adorning the lock is missing one pin, but still perfectly attached in place. The matching handmade glass decanters, (with the exception of one which as a restored chip by the rim), are also in excellent condition, very clean with no cracks or major chips, just the odd, very tiny nibble to the glass only noticeable at very close and detailed inspection. The glass has the odd air bubble here and there common on antique glass.

This beautiful three cut glass bottled decanter oak cased Tantalus measures approx. 36cm/14 by 26cm/112 by 29.5cm/11.75 high.
