The top collar and the base of the piece are cast out of. 833 purity Dutch silver and are completely hand chased with Rococo designs. The top silver portion is decorated with sinuous flowers, scrolls and a raised face of a woman over a finely stipple background. The base is decorated with flowers and latticework.
This was made as a wine ewer but could be used for any liquid. The swirl pattern on the crystal bottle would really be accentuated by a dark liquor or red wine. Each silver portion of this piece is marked with the lion passant. 833 purity mark, the Minerva head duty mark, a maker's mark of the initial R and a date letter h for the year 1892. This piece is in excellent condition for its age and the hand chasing on the silver portions is crisp.
