Monarch- by J Hoare- Whiskey Jug / Decanter- American Brilliant Cut Glass

  

This is a piece by J. Hoare in the Monarch pattern.

There are no chips or cracks that I can see or feel. There is some residue on the interior of the jug from having liquid stored inside. I believe this could be removed with the slight abrasive solution that some glass restorers use. The stopper appears to be the same pattern as is found on the neck of the jug. The stopper seems a little looser when seated in the jug than it should- therefore I can not be certain that the stopper dates from the brilliant period, but I do not know.

The stopper looks, visually, to match the jug's pattern. There are beautiful hobstars that surround the jug, and one HUGE hobstar on the bottom.

I have described this to the best of my ability, but please know that you are purchasing an item that is over 100 years old and may not be perfect. This piece will be one of the treasures in your home or glass collection.
