Fabulous Oak/Brass Tantalus/Games Compendium/Decanter Box

  
A fabulous late 19c oak and brass bound tantalus/decanter box with games compendium dating to C1890. Wonderful quality with lift up top and pull down front and drawers containing all sorts of games such as draughts, dominoes, two packs cards, counters, scrabble, etc.

The beautiful matched hand blown decanters are period to the box and have chamfered shoulders, star cut bases and octagonal cut stoppers. They are 7.5 inches high[19cm] x 3.5 ins square[9cm] and are in good condition for there age and only have one small smooth chip to underside of one decanter and a tiny flea bite to a stopper edge which is minimal but mentioned for accuracy. There are three matched silver plated labels for whiskey, gin, and brandy as well as three small plated dishes.

There is also a silver plated engraved tray but I think this is a later replacement and made to fit as the edges are a little rough but easy to replace with a better one as they are cheap and a standard size 12 x 8-8.5 inches. There are a pair of etched glasses in the lid which look original and wonderful thick brass bound decoration and handles and superb colour and patina. The lock has had the prongs taken off sas there is no key but again easy to replace should you wish, Box measures 13.5 inches high[35cm] x 14 ins wide[36cm] x 10.5 ins deep[27cm].
