A true beauty with an eye catching color. This emerald green cut to clear is a delight! Engraved motifs of grapes, vines and flowing tendrils. A lovely squat blown blank form. Topped with a silver stopper. The top has a light indentation to silver and engraved with the letters EGL. The bottom of the stopper has chips.
This is a marriage to this decanter buts suits it well. Dorflinger or Pairpoint are the companies I believe created this rarity. It stands a bit over 6 inches by 6 1/2 inches wide.
The base is 5 1/4 inches wide. The condition is as follows. The handle is well annealed and in strong condition.
The top spout is free of large chips and cracks. The engraved pattern has no chips or nicks. The body also has no cracks or notable chips. On the outer part there appears to be something that has clouded the glass. It is only on one half of this decanter. If you follow the pictures closely you see how it looks like a splash. Perhaps this was on a counter or sitting in water? Reminds me of what you normally see on the inside of such pieces. Perhaps it can be professionally buffed out and treated with chemicals to remove. Also some fine surface scratches on the clouded side. If you look at the inside (with the right light) you see super fine crazing lines. Despite its condition issues this is a fantastic decanter.
Worthy for an advanced collector, a star addition indeed!! Displays nicely on it's clean side!
