Abp Circa 1910 American engraved cut glass decanter, probably Tuthill, Tiger Lily, unsigned, done in manner of Hawkes Gravic and Libbeys floral motifs, Black, Starr & Frost. Body - fully cut corset body in flute motif, fine deep intaglio engraved lily and foliage motif, star miter cut base. Stopper original/locking flower form stopper, pure silver overlay stopper, Black, Starr & Frost, fine 999/1000 silver, H-936, marked bottom of stopper 6-6, 19, monogrammed on stopper top MS de MH. Condition excellent, no chips or repairs, has nicks/flakes to bottom of stopper/interior/locks well, has interior ring/fluid level stain at approx midway. One of the great American jewelry stores of the nineteenth century.

Beginnings of the store started in Savanah, GA in 1801, moving to NYC in 1810 and included various partners over the years. They exhibited in the large 19. Possibly Tuthills Liliacea or Tiger Lily motif, after the Liliacea Lily family flowers. This is one of the finest examples of engraved glass concerning depth, dimensional, varying polishes and striated foliage. A fully cut flute motif clear glass blank. A pure silver 999/1000 overlay stopper. And high quality Black, Starr & Frost retailer.

Several companies patented these floral motifs in the early 1900 to keep up with the simpler designs in vogue at this period during the early 20. These included Tuthill, Hawkes, Libbey, Sinclair, Pairpoint and others. These high quality floral designs produced in the early 1900s were anatomically correct with a full flower/on body and a bud/on handle and correct foliage. Other Tuthill engraved motifs Orchid, Phlox, Cosmos, Wild Rose, Forget-Me-Not, Tiger Lily, Daisy & Festoon, Grape, Grapefruit, Tomato, Egypt, Madrid, Yale, Florence.
