Heading : A prism cut magnum decanter Date : c1930 Period : George V Origin : Stuart or Hill-Ouston, Stourbridge / Birmingham Colour : Clear Stopper : Radial cut mushroom Neck : Prism cut Body : Prism cut Pontil : Star cut Glass Type : Lead Size : 26.4cms Condition : Slither chip to base of stopper, small water stain on base Restoration : None Weight : 1830g. Many of the major English factories had lines of Georgian glass in the 1920s and 1930s.
Note the rounded edge to the lip, the concave lip, the thickened base, the absolute uniformity of the cutting and the clear bright glass. Also note the thickness of the mushroom stopper, it is not concave on the underside. This remains a magnificent decanter but Georgian it is not.
